Hearts! Hearts! Hearts!

I really didn't think I would go mad about polymer clay!

The story is that I saw some gift tags and Christmas decorations made with clay and I decided to give it a try, now I just can't stop! There are so many ideas that when I go to bed I keep thinking about possible designs and the stuff to put it together. So far I've been using what I have at home. I know it takes time to master it, but I am loving learning how to do it. And learning basically by myself...

Another pendant!

Yes, I think I am going mad for playing with clay! Last night I tried to dye some clay and the result was horrible... and messy of course.

First the orange was too bright and then when I tried to make it darker it became almost black. I think I have a lot to learn!

I saw this tutorial in youtube and I really loved. I think it is very helpful for beginners like me. another thing is about the finishing touches, like the colour of the cord and also the wooden beads. I am loving this!

Blue heart pendant

This blue heart pendant was made with polymer clay. I am impressed to see that my new camera catches all the handmade imperfections! Now I can see that the white paint didn't get in all the word 'LOVE'. Well it's a very romantic style if I am not wrong. I also think that with a blue wax cord it will make it look better.

Another trial, another lesson...

Playing with clay

I always wanted to learn how to work with clay. Nowadays internet is the best teacher! You can just google  the word clay and there they are. So many ideas that we don't know where to start.

I started with modelling clay for kids and some roses that I learned when I was about 12 years old. It's not perfect, I know, it needs some experience and I tried not to mark it with my nails, which are very
long at the moment.

many imperfections, I know, but for the first one it's fine...

Then I tried a butterfly. Since I don't have special tools for it, I used toothpick and my smallest crochet hook.

I could leave it they way it was, but I decided to try acrylic paint this time and that's how it looks like. Now I just need to crochet the chain and hope it goes into the small loops I made. It looks like wood and I loved the finishing.

When I lived in Brazil, I bought a necklace made with beads because it called my attention. It was so beautiful and colourful that I couldn't resist.

Some months after I realised that it as made with crochet! So, I bought metallic thread and beads in random colours and made many necklaces. That time I gave some to my friends and others that didn't look so nice went to the bin!

So, just before Christmas my mother-in-law said "Do you know what I liked? That necklace you were wearing the other day". I couldn't resist... had to make them again! So, here they are...

It is incrediable how they look like gold chain. Next time I will see if I can find the metallic thread in silver. You can wear it as bracelet or necklace.

Felt flower brooch II

This brooch was made after Christmas and it was also made twice because I know my mother-in-law likes this type of stuff.

There are many tutorials online, so it was pretty easy to make it. I've got ideas here and there so I think it looks pretty good. I hope to learn a bit more of this craft and improve it.

Felt Flower Brooch

Here I am again blogging... not that I haven't crafted much, but, you know, sometimes we just don't feel like it.

I have many projects going on and in my mind too. I made this felt brooch for me, but as I know my mother-in-law, she will ask for one too. So I better wrap it and give it to her next week.

It is very easy to make. I just googled flower brooch template and the rest I figured out. Nice to use some creativity for a change.

If you are still reading my blog, thanks and see you soon!

Today I was checking my favourite blogs and I realised that it has been a long time I didn't  post. Not that I haven't done anything hehehehe but I guess we have to be in the mood to write.

So, after a long time trying to repair our kitchen wall, it's done. It makes a lot of difference when we decorate specially with things we made.

Another thing is one of my new violet in bloom. I've got another one too but sadly it is sick and I had to cut the flowers away and wash the leaves to see if I can save it... hope it works.

And finally something that I enjoyed a lot stitching. Our wedding sampler is small but lovely. I can't believe that it's almost 4 years now that we've been married.

If anybody is interested I've got the kit at amazon.

Loving African violets and some stitching

Last year I've got some violets for just 0,20p. Unfortunately the white one didn't survive long because I might have watered it too much. So replanting them made de leaves grow and now they are in full bloom again to my surprise.

I also stitched some nice decorative cross stitch form the magazine "Cross Stitch Crazy" that you can find here. I've made some changes adding some beads instead of French knots and stiched in one colour the written part.

I loved the result and I will place it in the kitchen after the painting the wall ...

Monday, 12 March 2012

I know it has been some time since I have last blogged or even read my favourite sites. I've been so down with bad news from my family that I didn't even feel like doing anything at all. We've just found out that my dad is sick and I will be flying to Brazil soon. And with all that is the problem with my back so I will have to stand for most of the flight. But I guess it's a sacrifice that I have to make and it will be great to finally meet his new wife.

So, apart from all this that I hope will be solved soon, I finished my cushion and I am enjoying it a lot. I know that the bedroom looks very feminine now but it is so much better than before that sometimes it's difficult to believe the state it was before I moved in.

I chose the colours from our new duvet set.

And created a new way to close it, since I didn't want to have bottoms on it. I don't know if anybody has done like that (as a shoe lace) but I think it's better so I can wash it without the cushion.

So that's how it looks like right now... beautiful ans comfortable..
